St Peters ChirchFirst Dorset Credit Union Concert Review.

First Dorset Credit Union marked its ten years of operation in Dorchester with a concert in St Peter's church.

An enthusiastic audience much appreciated the balanced programme of music and poems. The music ranged from saxophone solos played by Hannah Gibson, the gifted musician at Thomas Hardie school to / a capella / singing by a group organised by the composer of the evening's music, Brian Parkhurst. Also notable were solos by Ruth Hastings, Robert Eshelby, Robbie Bowering and John Turner. A trio of two flutes and cello provided a contrast with some dazzling unaccompanied flute music played by Nikki Olson.

The evening was compered by Allen Knott who created a poem specially for the event extolling the work of First Dorset Credit Union.

About £900 was raised from the generous patrons of the concert and advertisers, towards the work of First Dorset Credit Union. Please ring the office 01305 268444 for details and to book tickets.

Weymouth Branch - More Sessions at Weymouth & Portland Borough Council Offices

With the welcome help of some new volunteer members, this SP is now open from 1000-1200 on three mornings a week (Monday/Wednesday/Friday).
To provide a better service to new and existing CU members in the borough, we have now been asked if we can extend this routine to five days per week; but before we can do this we need the help of some more volunteers !
On-the-job training is friendly and informal - if you could spare 2-3 hours once a week (ideally on a Tuesday or Thursday !) please give Rachel a ring in our Dorchester office (01305-268444) and she will put you in touch with our Weymouth branch - we look forward to hearing from you . . .
